It all starts with…

An epiphany that I had in 2023 deciding it was time to live life on my terms, take control of my mind and body and be the person I wanted to be!

Learning the ropes at The Bar & Kettle before moving to Everlast has given me a wealth of experience in different fields from middle aged clients trying to turn back the clock, to runners, athletes and even students simply trying to look good.

My favourite piece of equipment is the humble barbell. It’s so easy to forget about with all the fancy equipment available at gyms now, but fundamental compound exercises build, lower, upper, and core stability. These should be the basis of any resistance training programme from anyone just wanting to keep fit all the way to Pro athletes!

Fun Fact: All of these photos were taken after a bicep ligament surgery so they’re all from the left side!

10 things about me

Do you have a go-to pump-up song? SIC by slipknot although after the gym I’ll probably be listening to Luther Vandross to chill out!

What’s one piece of fitness advice you’d give to your younger self? Don’t wait! One of my biggest regrets is putting things off and not following my passions.

Do you have any hobbies outside of fitness? My other love is my car, I’m always washing, tinkering or doing something with it!

Is there an animal you’d love to have as a pet? I’ve always wanted a pet hedgehog.

What's your favourite book or movie of all time? The entire Lord Of The Rings trilogy both in book or movie form.

If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be? Possibly Julius Caesar or Marcus Aurelius as I love history, especially Roman history (I’ve even got Roman socks!).

What’s a hidden talent or skill you have that might surprise people? Not a real talent but something people find surprising is that I can move my ear (only the right one though!).

I completely understand how intimidating a gym can seem to everyone, not too long ago that person was me, worried about what I should train, how I looked, thinking people were watching the “fat guy”.

But today I’m proud to say that I’ve built a community of people that are friendly and welcoming to everyone, training isn’t just about looking fit, it’s a lifestyle, a way of living.

I like to support that philosophy as it’s the only way to truly succeed, making small steps both mentally and physically! I occasionally do hikes and walks with clients when the weather permits. I believe in giving something back to you guys and to build that feeling of all being in it together!
